Julie Thomson

Career overview

Julie Thomson started in the insurance industry as a claims assistant in 1996. From there, Julie worked her way up to office manager and completed the insurance industry accreditations for insurance assessing. In 2005, she began her career with the mining industry as a mining assistant / recruitment officer on site at Thiess Pty Ltd. During her time at Thiess, Julie was in charge of all procurement for the department and well as the daily co-ordination of the department, developing internal systems to help manage the department, and also the recruiting of both permanent and casual labour. Julie then moved into a HR Manager role in 2007 for a major labour hire supplier in Mackay. In this position, she managed over 390 employees and serviced approximately 18 mine sites within the mining industry.


Dajwood was developed during this time, after which Julie commenced her roles in recruiting, mentoring, consulting, and developing office roles for clients. While building Dajwood into her full-time career, she was also working as an Executive Personal Assistant for a local engineering company and as a Marketing Coordinator, where she sought leads, built the company’s branding, and played a major role in coordinating large tender documents with all relevant parties.


Dajwood soon became Julie's full-time passion, and with Darb joining the business in 2009, together they expanded into proficiency training and equipment services. Today, Julie manages the contractual and financial side of Dajwood, whilst continuing to mentor and develop internal skills within the business.
